Professional Knowledge and Teaching Practice
I believe that teachers need to apply their professional knowledge to their teaching practices. I believe that teachers have professional knowledge on education, such as planning and assessment and evaluation strategies that they need to ensure they are applying to their teaching practice. In regards to planning, I think that teachers need to ensure they are utilizing the backward design framework in order to plan their units and lessons. I also believe that teachers need to ensure their teaching practice is reflecting their professional knowledge. Teachers should be utilizing their professional knowledge of the different types of assessment strategies such as assessment for, of and as learning and using a variety of different types of assessment and evaluations in their teaching practices. I believe that teachers that ensure their teaching practice is guided by professional knowledge will be able to ensure their students' success because they are relying on their professional knowledge of how best to plan units and lessons and to assess and evaluate their students.
